There are grounds to believe that the actions of those organizing and carrying out the logging in connection with road construction, disguised as major repairs, may constitute offenses under three articles of the Russian Criminal Code, according to the Expert Council on Protected Areas. Specifically, the alleged crimes include cadastral forgery (Art. 170.2), illegal logging on a particularly large scale (Art. 260), and violation of the national park regime causing significant damage (Art. 262).
